MILES Trial Enrollment
MILES Trial Welcomes Women with LAMYear 2009 will be a banner year for the MILES Trial. With all 13 trial sites now open for enrollment, access to the trial is easier across the US, Canada and Japan. Toronto is home to the MILES Trial in Canada with a newly-opened site. Japan hosts two trial sites: Niigata and Osaka.
Women with LAM are still needed to enroll in the study. Many women from around the world have contacted the trial sites to inquire about the study. The goal of the study is to get a definitive answer about whether rapamycin is a valuable therapy for women with LAM.
Time is getting short and enrollment will come to a close this year in late summer. Maybe you have considered screening for the study, but the time was not right for you in the past. Whatever your reasons have been, we are still eager to work with you and discuss any options that might make the MILES Trial a good choice for you this year.
If the costs of travel to and from study sites have been holding you back, The LAM Foundation can support study visit-related travel if needed.
As a MILES Trial participant you may be eligible to participate if you:
- have LAM,
- are a woman,
- are at Least 18 years old,
- are not pregnant.
Participation in the MILES Trial requires 8 visits over 2 years and involves physical exams, blood and urine samples, X-rays and CT tests, breathing tests, exercise tests, questionnaires, and an at home diary. Possible risks of the study drug include upset stomach, headache, constipation, increased risk of infection and mouth sores.
If you would like to review your eligibility for the MILES Trial, you may call the study coordinators at any of the sites listed below.
