Air Travel for the MILES Trial
For patients living outside a 250 mile radius of Cincinnati, Ohio, we will reimburse air flight expense up to $500 for the study participant per round trip flight. Airfare exceeding $500 must be approved on an individual basis. Once we receive a copy of the airfare receipt (including payment verification), a check will be sent to you at your home address.Travel by Car
Travel by car will be reimbursed using the IRS standard medical mileage rate of $.20 per mile. If you live within the 250 mile radius around Cincinnati and choose to use air flight, we will reimburse your airfare up to the equivalent mileage reimbursement.Lodging
The study program will reimburse participants up to $85 per night (as required by the study) for one (1) room. Please provide a receipt from the hotel including verification of payment. Requests for reimbursement for additional nights must be approved in advance. Cincinnati Children's Hospital Guest Services department can assist you with lodging and transportation issues. We will reimburse participants up to $35 per day (as required by the study) for meals. Receipts must be provided.Other Travel Issues
If traveling by air, the hospital does have a shuttle service that may be available. If the shuttle is not available, Guest Services can assist you with locating a taxi. There are also several rental car agencies located at the airport. There will be assistance with the cost of necessary ground transportation as well. We will need a receipt to reimburse you. If you incur any other medically necessary expenses in order to make the trip, they may be reimbursable. Prior approval is required.
